Lara Demaio

Lara Demaio is a lawyer in the Wills and Deceased Estates team, helping clients with everything from estate planning to probate applications and general estate administration. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW in October 2024, after working in the field as a paralegal and then solicitor since 2022.

In her day-to-day work, Lara prepares wills, powers of attorney, and enduring guardianship documents. She also assists clients with probate and letters of administration, offering thoughtful, clear guidance through a process that often comes at a difficult time.

“Whether someone’s planning ahead or dealing with the loss of a loved one, I want them to feel supported, informed, and confident their wishes and family are protected.”

A Practical, Empathetic Approach

Lara is known for being proactive, clear, and approachable — clients often mention how much they appreciate her frequent communication and her ability to manage expectations with care and honesty.

She finds deep purpose in providing reassurance to clients as they take on responsibilities like administering a loved one’s estate or finalising their own affairs. “These moments can be overwhelming,” she says. “Being able to bring clarity and confidence to someone at that time is incredibly meaningful.”

Lara also assists on estate litigation and general dispute matters when needed, applying the same level-headed approach to more complex scenarios.

Career Milestones

Lara is proud to be the first lawyer in both her immediate and extended family — a milestone that represents years of hard work and a deep commitment to her community. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from The University of Notre Dame Australia and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law.

“I was drawn to law because I wanted to help people navigate complexity, advocate for fairness, and support my community. It felt like a natural fit.”

Outside the Office

Lara enjoys scenic walks, baking, reading, and playing the piano. On weekends, she’s often exploring Sydney’s best bakeries — from the Blue Mountains to the CBD — on a mission to find the city’s top pies, sausage rolls, and vanilla slices.

And in a fun twist, she’s also a massive Formula 1 fan.
